This tournament was held to generate a FIDE rating opportunity for the six players who were unrated. 14-year-old Richard Jones achieved a first rating of 2075.
The tournament was held over successive weekends. Rounds 1-4 were played on 10-11 May at Pontardawe Leisure Centre, with rounds 5-9 being played at the Urdd Hall in Hendy on 16-18 May.
