* a peculiarity in the handwritten crosstable for this event, in the first-round pairing DC Wood vs DO Collier. Both are recorded as winning. And both are then paired with other players on 1/1 in round 2 so it's not really possible to determine which result is wrong. I've consulted Dave Collier and he couldn't remember what happened. However, it occurred to him that he might have had a default win in a West of England Championship back in the day and a controller had some reason not to default his opponent but he can't remember if it was at this tournament. This is similar to an idea I had - supposing both players had been paired with first-round no-shows and it was decided they should play each other for the sake of having a game, but their default point counted anyway. It's a possible interpretation - JS

Date Notes
8 February 2022 So far, no games, but Jane Anson kindly sent me a handwritten crosstable so I've added it here in the hope that some games eventually materialise, and also, to record an early success for GM Mickey Adams. There is a brief mention of the tournament in his father Bill Adams' book Michael Adams: Development of a Grandmaster.
